The giant palm lily is not a real palm tree, but actually an asparagus.
The oldest ancestors of the yucca palm already lived on earth 20 million years ago. Today, the genus Yucca comprises about 40 to 50 different species.
The palm lily is a popular houseplant and is also widespread in parks and gardens in southern Europe. Its original home is in the highlands of Mexico and Central America, where it grows up to 2,000 metres above sea level. In its dry and hot home, the giant palm lily can grow up to nine metres high.
