Der Kalebassenbaum erreicht eine Höhe von etwa 10m.
Namensgebend sind die großen fast runden Früchte.
Diese finde in vielerlei Art Anwendung. Die ausgereiften Früchte kann man Aushöhlen und zum Trocknen aufhängen. Unter anderem nutzt man die Gefäße nach der Verarbeitung zur Aufbewahrung von Flüssigkeiten oder Lebensmitteln und für verschiedene Musikinstrumente, wie den Maracas.

It is named after the large, almost round fruits.
These are used in many ways. The ripe fruits can be hollowed out and hung up to dry. Among other things, the vessels are used after processing to store liquids or food and for various musical instruments, such as the maracas.

El árbol de la calabaza alcanza una altura de unos 10 metros.
Su nombre se debe a sus frutos grandes y casi redondos.
